A glorious history
Rooted in Royal
The PuliyappattaTharavadu (ancestral family), a prominent presence in the field of traditional eye care, has a glorious history of over 250 years to recount. Among the many stories that reflect the rich heritage is the honour bestowed upon them by the Zamorin royal family. It is said that after successfully treating a chronic illness at the Zamorin palace using traditional Dravidian Ayurvedic methods, the family was recognized as the royal eye physicians and rewarded with silk garments, ceremonial bangles, and land grants (Pattum, Valayum, Kudiyirupp Bhoomiyum). Another remarkable chapter in their history is the establishment of the Pallipuram Railway Station by the British, built in close proximity to the family estate in recognition of their prominence
